Bathroom- Tar Paper & Wallboard

The bathroom is moving along...
We had ripped out all the old shower walls which exposed the original boards, cut in the rough shape of the tree... LOVED seeing that!

Mike then replaced the plumbing that runs to the tub fixtures, since it was now open and easier to get at.

For the next step, Mike relied on this video as a guide:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyaSjgw2hf4

In the video they suggest using tar-like roofing material to waterproof the tub/shower.  So that's what we used.  They made it seem so easy & clean.
We got the stuff all over the place!

<-- Here we are with the tar paper on, and starting the wall board.

One more thing we should mention...
Make sure your supporting stucture for the wallboard is adequately spaced.
Mike had to take down the section of wall board along the top, and peel back the tar paper to add a backer strip since it didn't feel sturdy enough screwing it into just one backer strip.  We didn't want to risk leaving it and then the tiles cracking.

The other tricky part was making the holes for the fixtures in the wallboard.  We put toothpaste on the end of each fixture and held the wallboard up against it, to get accurate placement before we drilled the holes.

So, now this area is just about ready for tile.
Since this is another first for us, we'd better start looking up videos on how to do that!
