Painting Round Up- Out Buildings

Just to document the  painting before & after of the out buildings...

The Garage
As mentioned- this building needed the most boards replaced.   The white boards show the new work done.

The Well House This building also needed some carpentry... mostly holes to be filled where we removed old flood lights, etc.

The white gas tank needs to be removed.

Whew- what a difference!  The "Kitchen Project" is now being considered fully complete, since painting was the last thing being "included" in our plans/estimates.  No worries though, there are plenty of more projects that we're thinking of...  and although were probably going to stay away from some BIG  projects for the next few months, we've got a few smaller ones getting underway!

Picking Garden Wall

For the past year, we've been talking about taking a bunch of the rocks from around the property and using them to make a wall around a picking garden (similar to the flower bed we made- just bigger)

The reason for the picking garden?  Mike does all of the gardening/landscaping... but then I feel bad picking the flowers!  I wanted a garden that could be used just for flower bouquets- without the guilt :)

We selected a location on the side of the garage.

We had a LOT of rocks to work with!

In Progress
Reverse side-looking towards the back of the house
 And the wall is complete...
Mike removed the bush that was at the front corner of the garage & replanted it along the front field fence.

Next steps:
-getting the excess rocks out of the center of the garden
-roto-tilling the ground (once it stops all of this snowing- ugh!)
-do some planting (we just started researching for deer-resistant flowering plants)

Garage Overview

I'm not sure why we decided to call this barn "The Garage", but it's closest to the house, painted the same color, and doesn't appear to have housed animals in the recent past... so Garage it is!

I'm making a "picking garden" on the side,
for flowers I can cut & bring inside.
It's in relatively good shape- though currently quite messy!  And that's all us... it was completely clear when we moved in almost a year ago.  I hope to get it at least straightened out this summer.
The first floor mess isn't TOO bad... mostly just the kids' toys scattered about.
Shouldn't take too long to clean this part up!

A couple of cool little details:
I love the style of the doors!

I have big plans for this shelf!  --->
It was left here by the previous owners.  I think that once it's cleaned up, it would look really cute in my son's Nautical theme bedroom.

This old hand-made crank with cord
must have attached to a generator,
since there isn't any power run in here.
And there's an upstairs... though we need to add a handrail to the stairway!

More chairs!

I have all kinds of projects to be worked on up here.  I might claim the upstairs as my own little area :o)  I've been checking out pictures on Pinterest, and fell in love with the idea of white-washing the walls, beams and ceiling.  The hardwood floor would be really nice if cleaned up a bit!

Yet another far-off project I can dream about :o)

Check out this picture of the garage from the 1987... I think it looks much better in blue!
