Kitchen- Primed

We are now all primed, and the kitchen feels so much better- less dusty and really like a room now!

The plasterer thought that that back nook was going to have full wall cabinetry, but there is going to be uppers & lowers (with a bit of wall showing in the back).  So when hes back for the ceilings in the dining room and bedroom, we'll have him do the finishing coat on that section.  I wish we caught that sooner!

I also went ahead and primed the windows.  The builder still needs to do all the trim work (after the floors go in) but since we'll likely be in a time crunch preparing for Thanksgiving, I figured I'd get done as much as I can now!

We were away for a few days, and came back to find they finished up the window installation!

The only problem was that they put it in too low.
When the trim is added around the exterior of the second floor windows, it would look too cluttered.



So, they came back the following day and moved it up.

Here's where we are now...

We're much happier with this placement!

Just when I thought we couldn't wait any longer, we came home to find the windows had been installed!

It makes such a difference!

They still have to add the half circle window at the top.  You can see it's in the box sitting inside...

We decided to not put a window on the left- our cabinetry will cover it.

There aren't any windows in the laundry room, but they did a little work in there... clearing out the mud/rocks where necessary.

This section of wall was more mud than rocks, and with the torrential rain storms, it was getting all soggy and crumbling.

Attic Windows

After Mike got the attic cleared out of debris, we decided to take care of the windows.  It's hard to see in the photos, but the left window was just a storm window, and the right one was a real window, but was pretty rotted.










Our first stop was to the Restore... we got some great light fixtures, but they didn't have the sizes we needed for the windows.  So off we went to the home improvement store.

We came home with two of these guys...

Mike got right to work on the rotted window... since he also had to fix some of the support framing for it.

We're holding off on the other window (the one with the storm window), since we will likely need to slide the sheetrock into the space through that opening.  We wouldn't want to ding up the new window casings!

It doesn't look like much of a difference from the ground looking up, but up-close it is a huge improvement!  

I still need to take a new photo from the inside...
